Darrell Daniels

Born on December 17, 1967, and raised in New London, Connecticut, Darrell Daniels has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to education and community service. As a student at New London High School, he excelled academically and athletically, serving as valedictorian and a scholar athlete while playing varsity football. His early dedication to research was evident through his apprenticeship at the Naval Underwater Systems Center from ninth grade until graduation.

Pursuing higher education, he attended Stanford University, where he earned a BA in Political Science in 1989 and an MA in Education in 1990, supported by the Irvine Foundation Fellowship. During his time at Stanford, he also contributed as a Big Brother with the Big Brothers/Little Brothers of the Peninsula program. His academic journey continued at Harvard University, where he received a Master of Public Policy in 1996.

With a passion for shaping young minds, he has held several leadership positions in education. From September 2018 to June 2023, he served as a principal and assistant principal within the San Francisco Unified School District. In August 2023, he began his current role as Principal at MLK Middle School in the Hayward Unified School District.

Outside of his professional life, he enjoys reading, politics, travel, comedy, basketball, theater, R&B, and jazz. Through his career and personal interests, Darren Daniels remains dedicated to fostering growth, learning, and community engagement.
